About the role

Easy Fab is seeking a practical, creative, and technically strong Mechanical Systems Engineer to contribute to the design, development, fabrication, commissioning, and continuous improvement of CNC machinery and other engineering systems. The position combines mechanical design, machine development, engineering analysis, workshop implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and technical coordination. The successful candidate will work closely with technicians and multidisciplinary teams to transform engineering concepts into reliable, functional machines. The role is particularly suited to an engineer who is comfortable moving between CAD/design work and the workshop, understands how machines are actually fabricated and assembled, and can take ownership of mechanical systems from concept through commissioning and improvement.

Responsibilities

- Mechanical Design & Development .Design mechanical systems, machine structures, assemblies, mechanisms, and components for CNC laser cutting and related equipment. .Develop 3D models, engineering drawings, assemblies, and manufacturing documentation. .Select appropriate materials, mechanical components, bearings, fasteners, linear motion systems, belts, couplings, and other machine elements. .Translate engineering requirements into practical mechanical designs and implementation plans. .Review existing machine designs and identify opportunities for improvement in performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability. .Fabrication, Assembly & Implementation .Guide and technically support technicians during fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, installation, and maintenance. .Review fabricated components and assemblies against drawings and engineering requirements. .Participate in machine assembly, alignment, adjustment, and commissioning. .Identify fabrication and assembly problems and provide practical engineering solutions. .Ensure mechanical systems are designed with appropriate consideration for safety, accessibility, maintainability, and serviceability. - Testing & Troubleshooting .Participate in machine testing, commissioning, and performance validation. .Diagnose mechanical failures and abnormal machine behavior. .Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions. .Monitor machine performance and recommend design modifications where necessary. .Document engineering changes, test results, failures, and improvements. .Multidisciplinary Engineering .Work closely with electrical, automation, embedded systems, and software engineers during machine development and integration. .Coordinate mechanical requirements with motors, sensors, encoders, control systems, wiring, pneumatic systems, cooling systems, and other subsystems. .Contribute to system-level engineering decisions where mechanical and electronic systems interact. -Engineering Documentation & Technical Leadership .Maintain accurate engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, bills of materials, and revision records. .Prepare technical documentation for fabrication, assembly, testing, and maintenance. .Provide technical guidance to workshop personnel and junior engineers. .Take ownership of assigned engineering projects and follow them through to completion.

Requirements

Strong understanding of mechanical design, machine elements, fabrication, assembly, and engineering drawings. Practical experience with 3D CAD and mechanical design software, such as: SolidWorks Fusion 360 Autodesk Inventor AutoCAD or equivalent CAD platforms. Ability to interpret and produce engineering drawings. Understanding of manufacturing processes, welding, machining, mechanical assembly, and material selection. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability. Ability to work independently and take ownership of engineering tasks. Good technical communication and ability to work with technicians and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Qualifications

Degree or advanced diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field.
